This talk will introduce the state of the art in cancer radiation therapy
using magnetic-resonance imaging (MRI) to target and track tumours in
real-time. The role of medical physicists to ensure high
fidelity imaging and radiation therapy delivery will be described as
well as technical advances that enable the combination of the MRI with a
treatment device. The concept of generating a new daily radiation plan,
or adaptive radiation therapy, will be described including the needed technical benchmarking to implement such a program. Clinical use cases will be illustrated to highlight key scientific benchmarks.
